Crooked Chronicles: October 2019
As I sit to reflect for October’s Buzz, I’m partly excited to see the new
snow on Eureka and Boss Mountain ‘re capping’ again. Then again, yikes!
Has this 2 season Cariboo ever sprung past fast~ Folks are still calling to
book cabins and bring RV’s out to check out our 50 Shades of Gold!
Hunting season is in full swing and the mountains and back country are a ‘Rush’ with trucks and quads, hikers, foragers and gun slingers. Snowmobile enthusiasts from Interlakes came up for lunch to talk about our winter sled package and plans are being made for our Spring events. We just heard the Williams Lake Powder Kings have just set Oct. 19-20th for the Crooked Lake trail work bee camp over. Check out our Facebook page and website for upcoming events. Our first annual Crooked Cures Women’s weekend is set for June. Book your space in your favourite place Why not put a gift certificate to Crooked Lake Resort on your Christmas gift
giving list. Analise and Lee were able to reap the rewards of winning the high
aggregate prize at the Horsefly Fall Fair by celebrating Analise’s birthday out at
the resort. Analise won this year’s High Aggregate prize as well. Can’t wait to see
them again next year and taste test some of her 2020 creations!

Judy and Stewart were Crooked-Ingognito for a few days and did some crooked cooking of a few kinds themselves Can’t beat a beauty fresh caught rainbow for breakfast! So many thanks and kudos go out to both of these amazing women for doing all they do for us, their families and our community! Inspiring and motivating women! Al and I were pretty stoked to have John and Garrett do some crooked cooking.
They treated us, twice, along with some lucky guests who just happened to book their crooked cooking dinner at the right time, to a fantastic Fish Fry, from their neck of the coast! FYI Frank the butcher said their moose was the biggest so far. Here they hold the trophy that their names will be on for 2017 and still holding for 2019. Some may not be too impressed, but Al and I were as we watched these hunters show us the meaning of taking all of the animal in a humane and appreciative manner. They also taught us how to render down bear fat and we made it into a fantastic pastry. We had long and enthusiastic conversations about the sustainability, diversity and ethical views of hunting. We know this topic creates a ‘Rush and a Buzz’! So did our bear tarts! Get yourself out and enjoy the colours, cuz before you know it…50 shades of white! Get your sleds and skis ready! This year we will be a sled, ski or fly in only resort. A unique getaway where our cabins are warm, our food is comforting, our path and trails are enchanted, and our mountain is Eureka! Stay for 2 nights and get the 3rd for free. If winters not your bag, think about putting your trailer out at the resort for the summer season! Ask us about our limited vacancy, long term availability and great rates. Remember we are open all year round so come on out for some recharge and rebooting…Crooked Lake Resort Style.

Hope to see you soon. Al and Kim Please always remember to Preach,
Teach and Practice Pack In and Pack Out Respect and Protect your Fire and
